One of the oldest historical archives that recognized this city is the sailling map of Ptolemy which recorded their journey from Suvanabhum cape down to Malay cape though "junk Ceylon" cape which is believed to be Phuket Island today.

Phuket's cultural distinctiveness was borne out of this group settling in Phuket and introducing their culture. Among Phuket's cultural attractions are Sino-Portuguese architecture, local cuisines, costumes and traditions, treasured and cherished by many generations until today.
